What is a Discord Ticket?
A Discord ticket is a private support channel created specifically for one user to communicate with your server's staff team. When a community member needs help, they create a ticket which opens a dedicated channel where they can discuss their issue privately with staff members.
Unlike public channels where messages can get lost or personal information might be exposed, tickets provide a secure, organized way to handle support requests. Each ticket is its own channel that only the requesting user and designated staff can see.
How Ticket Creation Works
Ticket King uses a modern button-based system that makes creating tickets simple and intuitive. Here's what happens when a user needs support:
- 1
User Finds the Ticket Panel
In your server's support or help channel, users see an embedded message (the ticket panel) with one or more buttons for creating tickets. Each button can represent a different category like "General Support" or "Bug Report."
- 2
User Clicks the Button
When the user clicks a ticket button, Ticket King immediately begins creating their private support channel. If you've configured Ticket Questions, the user will first answer a few questions to provide context.
- 3
Private Channel is Created
Ticket King creates a new text channel that only the user and your staff can access. The channel is named based on your configuration (e.g., "ticket-username" or "support-0042").
- 4
Staff Get Notified
Staff members with the appropriate roles receive a notification that a new ticket has been created. They can see the user's information and any Ticket Questions responses right away.
- 5
Conversation Begins
The user and staff can now communicate in the private channel. When the issue is resolved, staff can close the ticket, which archives the conversation and generates a transcript.
Button Interface Features
Ticket King uses Discord's native button components to provide a clean, intuitive ticket creation experience. Here's what makes the button interface great:
Clear Actions
Buttons clearly show what action will happen. Users simply click the button that matches their needs.
Multiple Categories
Add multiple buttons to one panel for different ticket types. Sales, support, and billing can all have their own button.
Custom Labels
Name your buttons anything you want. "Get Help," "Report Bug," or "Apply for Staff" – whatever fits your community.
Visual Feedback
Discord's button interaction provides immediate visual feedback, so users know their click was registered.
Tickets vs. DMs
Some servers try to handle support through direct messages, but ticket channels are far superior:
- Team Visibility: Multiple staff members can see and respond to tickets. DMs are only visible to one person.
- Transcripts: Ticket conversations are automatically saved. DM history can be deleted by either party.
- Organization: Tickets are organized in categories. DMs get mixed with personal messages.
- Accountability: Ticket transcripts create a record for resolving disputes. DMs offer no such protection.
Customizing the Experience
With Ticket King, you can customize every aspect of the ticket creation experience:
- • Custom opening messages that greet users when their ticket is created
- • Ticket Questions to collect information before staff engagement
- • Custom channel naming formats (username, ticket number, category)
- • Role-based staff notifications and access control
- • Ticket limits to prevent spam and abuse
