# When a transcript is generated

A transcript is generated **on every ticket close**. There is no "close without transcript" option and no opt-out. There is also no "create transcript now" button, because the transcript is built at close time.

## The trigger

A transcript is generated as part of the close flow whenever a ticket closes. This includes:

* The `/close` command.
* The panel **Close** button.
* Auto-close on inactivity (<i class="fa-crown">:crown:</i> Premium).
* Auto-close when the ticket author leaves the server.
* Deleting the ticket channel directly in Discord.

## When a transcript might be unavailable

In rare cases, a close-log entry shows "**Notice: Transcript Unavailable**" instead of a **View Transcript** button. When this happens, the transcript for that close cannot be generated again.

## Edits and deletions before close

* If a message was edited before close, the transcript keeps **only the latest version**. Edit history is not kept.
* If a message was deleted before close, the transcript does not include it.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://ticketking.xyz/docs/transcripts/when-generated.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
